Lincoln Elementary School, IL

The vision for the Lincoln Elementary School Library was for it to be a bright, inviting learning environment that would accommodate multiple teaching spaces — and be appealing to the various age groups. They also needed a flexible space that lent itself to easy mobility.

It took more than two years for the vision of this renovation to become a reality, and once things began to move forward, it turned out the whole school was going to be remodeled — including the library. One of the critical elements for the architect and school was to provide furniture that would match and coordinate with the school’s colors of blue, red and green. We tapped into the flexibility of Demco’s exclusive ColorScape® furniture and chose three non-standard laminate colors to accomplish this.

• To brighten up the space, large windows were installed at the front corner of the library for more natural light
• Mismatched, dark furniture was replaced with lighter oak on the shelving and circulation desk
• Coordinating colors for student and soft seating were used to improve the warmth of the room
• To create a flexible space, mobile 48″H ColorScape shelving was selected
