Central High School, GA

Central High School strives to provide a high quality education for students in a safe and comfortable environment. A traditional interior with modern detailing and completed in 2009, the new high school embodies a welcoming arrangement fit to inspire young minds to achieve success today and far into the future. Demco collaborated with district staff including Sandra Rooks, Purchasing Agent at Bibb County Board of Education, and Michelle Lenderman, Coordinator of Library Media Services, to create a space with contemporary function but a traditional look and one that graduates could be proud to call their own.
Low level shelving in the center of the library provides an open and light interior environment and at the same time helps to maintain sight lines throughout the library. A combination of study seating, lounge seating, and high level cafe seating yields an informal and multifunctional learning environment. Lenderman states, “We were able to create a media center that met all of our patrons’ needs and had the contemporary, teen-friendly feel we wanted.” Slatwall end panel details allow for face out displays in areas of high visibility while the centrally located display case highlights the most popular and seasonal materials. Other spaces furnished in the school include music rooms, classrooms, outdoor dining area and the school store. Rooks confirms, “After setup, the classrooms were well organized and there was easy access to all stations without having to disturb other students.” Demco was able to help transform Central High School into a more beautiful and functional school that will more efficiently serve its students.
